Each year Williamsburg-Yorktown Council members present Schantz Award Plaques to outstanding midshipmen and cadets in local Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) and Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) units. The Schantz Award is named for the first president of the Williamsburg-Yorktown Council. Recipients of the award are determined by their unit’s Officer-in-Charge, based on various factors including leadership, military aptitude, military bearing, and academic merit.
